Getting Around in Manchester

 
Getting there:

By plane: Manchester Airport, one of the busiest passenger airports in the UK, is located south of the city centre and serves around 100 different airlines from more than 200 locations. To get from here to the city centre you can take one of the direct trains, leaving the airport every 15 minutes. The journey takes around 20 minutes. Alternatively, a taxi from here to the city centre should cost under £20.

By train: Trains from destinations all over the UK terminate in Manchester’s main train station, Piccadilly Station. Virgin Trains operate connections from Manchester Piccadilly station to Euston Station in London.

By bus: Around 50 different bus companies operate in the Greater Manchester area. National Express operates many bus services into Manchester Piccadilly from location across Britain.

Getting around:

By train: Manchester’s Metrolink runs on two lines across the city. It covers many of the city’s main attractions.

By bus: A free Metroshuttle bus service runs on three routes covering most of the city centre. It operates on Monday to Saturday from 7am-7pm and on Sunday from 10am-6pm.

On foot: Manchester has a compact city centre, with main of the main attractions within walking distance of each other.
